AGM Statement
The Board of Jourdan Plc announces that all of the resolutions considered at the
Annual General Meeting held today were approved by shareholders.
Chairman, David Abell made the following statement to the meeting:
'At this stage it is usual for me to update the meeting on current trading. I
am pleased to confirm that profits, orders received and sales for the first
quarter are in excess of both budget and the comparable period last year. In
addition, the acquisition of Clinipak Limited for a net cash consideration of
approximately £1.5m (£2.2m less cash in the business of approximately £700,000)
will enhance earnings with an annual operating profit contribution of
approximately £300,000. Westfield's acquisition of Clinipak, which specialises
in the manufacture and distribution of products into the clinical and medical
markets, means that this business is now the largest and fastest growing in the
Group measured in terms of both sales and profits. The acquisition appears to
be settling in well, and your Directors are optimistic of the future development
of this medical business.
Although the mild weather has delayed certain major shipments of Suncrest
products, the merged business of Suncrest/Corby is achieving its budgets with
the bonus that the deferred shipments, many of which have already been
manufactured, are expected to be shipped in November and December. As mentioned
in my Chairman's Statement at the time of the Preliminary Results announcement
on 13 September 2006, the prospects for the year are encouraging and we expect
to report improved results for the full year. It is a long time since I have
been able to view the future with such confidence.
